Stopping in on her way back to Broadway

Get to know Emily.

Emily Padgett (Side show, Grease, Flashdance) stops by in Pinehurst on her way to start rehearsals for Steve Martin's Bright Star, opening on Broadway next month.

Bright Star recently played at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.  Fortunate for us, Emily Padgett has just enough time to stop in and perform with the Philharmonic opposite Tony-nominated Josh Young (Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables, Evita, Amazing Grace) before diving into rehearsals back in the Big Apple.

Last seen on Broadway to critical acclaim in Side Show, Emily played Daisy Hilton, conjoined to her twin sister. Check out this video - Emily, left, sings opposite co-star Erin Davie.

I can't wait to begin rehearsals when she arrives on Tuesday for our shows Saturday, Feb..6. On the docket are a handful of solos, including On the Steps of the Palace from Into the Woods and All That Jazz from Chicago. I'm almost more excited to see what sort of sparks fly when she joins with Josh for several duets, including an arrangement I had expressly orchestrated for them for this concert by Fedor Vrtacnic of Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera. We're also doing two other world premiere orchestrations by cutting edge Broadway composer Brian Lowdermilk - gorgeous songs and incredible orchestrations that at the moment only exist inside the heads of me and Brian.... more on that next blog.

You're not going to want to miss getting to know Emily better live on Saturday. She and Josh are sure to make a dynamic duo. See concert info below.

I should really be practicing...!
