Moore than just Music.
The Phil is proud to be partnering on "Broadway Cabaret" and "Behind the Curtain" with Moore Forward, "The Hub for Entrepreneurs – supporting innovation in Moore County."
The Philharmonic believes in innovation and education, we believe in putting, as the late Steve Jobs liked to say, "a dent in the universe." And we believe that Moore County needs more young entrepreneurs to shape our community. That's why we've reached out to Moore Forward to be our first partner on this pilot event, together creating new innovative programs and opportunities. This is just the beginning:
SPECIAL PROGRAMS FOR OUR BROADWAY CABARET PILOT LAUNCH
Behind the Curtain
Friday, March 18, 11am
Pinehurst Village Hall
Moore County music, arts, and entrepreneur students will have a chance to engage in a roundtable discussion with world-class Broadway artists visiting Moore County for the concert. The first hour-long "Behind the Curtain" event will be the day before show, Friday, March 18 at 11am-12pm at Pinehurst Village Hall. This event will be open to students as well as the public - no ticket required.
"Behind the Curtain" is made possible in part through a generous grant from Duke Energy to Moore Forward, St. Joseph of the Pines, and The Village of Pinehurst.
Art Design Competition
The Broadway Cabaret concert needs your help to design an official poster/T-shirt. A design competition, open to all Moore County students, will run through 9am on Monday, March 7th. The winning design will be announced on this page.
The winner will receive a $100 cash prize as well as be acknowledged from the stage at the show, receive two free tickets to either the Matinee or the 7pm performance, have their design featured as a poster in the lobby at the concert, and be printed on t-shirts to be worn by all volunteers and staff at the event.
Retweet / Facebook "share" contest
In the coming days, The Carolina Philharmonic will post a contest on both Facebook (www.facebook.com/CarolinaPhilharmonic) and Twitter (twitter.com/TheCarolinaPhil). Whoever shares the Facebook post or retweets the "tweet" will be entered into a drawing for two free tickets to the show. If the winner already purchased tickets – and both shows are expected to sell out – then their tickets will be refunded.
In addition, any students who participate in the above contest will also be entered in to a 2nd drawing for a $50 gift certificate to one of the best restaurants in Moore County.
Perfect Pitch
Young entrepreneurs will be given a chance to hone their pitching skills while giving back to the community. They'll receive training to pitch this event to local businesses, asking them to support it by allowing a poster to hang in their window and/or host rackcards with info about the event and about Moore Forward (host of Shark Tank).
A select group of local restaurants will also be invited to be a part of our event discount package, where ticket-purchasers will get 10% their bill on the day of the concert. Details forthcoming.
