“Come to Play”Children’s Choir 2021- Link Up
Watch and sing along with the video below to learn Link Up’s theme song, “Come to Play.”
All children in Moore County ages 6-12 are invited to also participate in our “Come to Play” virtual choir performance of the song, which will premiere during the live stream Link Up Concert!
The Orchestra Rocks live stream concert on Monday, May 10, 1pm. All children will have the opportunity then to view and sing along with the virtual choir and live orchestra.
How the final video will be created
(Scroll down for full instructions.) Participants record their voices together with the video just below and upload them. The individual videos are then combined and synced up into a virtual choir. (Scroll down to view the final video of our last virtual choir project in Spring 2020.)
Instructions
IMPORTANT: Check first with your music teacher regarding instructions. Each school may have different instructions for uploading and recording the video.
Singers: To participate in the “Come to Play” children’s choir, singers must be ages 6-12. There are two requirements: first, fill out the online application/permission form below, and then, when ready, but not past the deadline (!), upload your video file.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Midnight on Monday, April 26, 2021.
HOW TO PREPARE, RECORD and then UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO
First practice singing or playing along with the video above, with or without headphones.
When you are ready to record (most will likely need several takes as you get used to recording), put headphones on, covering at least one of your ears, so that you will be recording ONLY the sound of your voice or instrument, and NOT the accompaniment. When you finish recording your take, leave at least a few seconds of silence before pressing stop. Only record one take at a time (ie press stop and then record again between takes).
VIDEO FORMAT TYPE/FILE NAME
We can accept your video in any format (MP4, WAV, etc.). After recording, locate the video’s file location on your computer or phone and change the name to lastname-firstname-cometoplay (keeping the original file type, ie .mp4, .wav). This will allow us to match your recording with your application.
RECORDING METHOD
You don’t need fancy equipment or exterior mics, but if you have them and are comfortable using them, you may get a higher quality recording. Be sure to try to record in a quiet space. The easiest way to record for most will be from any type of computer or cell phone. If using a cellphone, prop it up solidly or attach it to a tripod if you have one. Do not hold it with your hand, no matter how steady your hand is!
FRAMING THE SHOT
Singers should capture at least from the chest up, with your face in the center of the shot. Instrumentalists are encouraged to show the full instrument and your face. On cellphones, either horizontal or vertical works.
Be Yourself and have fun. Give it your all, remember to smile at least once (!) and don’t be too hard on yourself. There’s no such thing as a perfect take.
EMAIL RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS SUBMITTED IN APPLICATION
Please be patient if we don’t respond quickly to your email. Depending on the number of entries, it may become difficult to keep up at our end. There will be updated info to this page, so check back here.
UPLOAD YOUR VIDEO HERE
Simple! After you’ve filled out the online registration/permission form above, and renamed the video file (see above), you have two options: 1) navigate to the video file location and drag the file into the upload zone below and then press send; or 2) click inside the upload box below on the up arrow, and then navigate to the video file location, select the file to upload it, and then click on the “Send Files” button below.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Midnight on Monday, April 26, 2021.
